
Dr. Arnold L. Goldman
Dr. Arnold L. Goldman is president of the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Foundation (CVMF) and founded its CTSART program. The CTSART program began with the Region 3 Animal Response Team under the auspices of the Capitol Region Emergency Planning Committee (CREPC) in 2005. Dr. Goldman chairs Emergency Support Function 11 for CREPC and Region 3. The Region 3 Animal Response Team is trained as a specialized unit of the federal Citizen Corps CERT program and represents the operational arm of Emergency Support Function 11 in Preparedness Region 3.
Dr. Goldman initiated the legislative process leading to enactment of Connecticut Public Act 07-11, which mandates the evacuation and mass care of household pets along with their owners in every Connecticut municipality. For this accomplishment the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association named Dr. Goldman 2008 Veterinarian-of-the-Year.
Today CVMF's CTSART program supports 5 state-sanctioned Regional Animal Response Teams, including the Region 3 Animal Response Team, which Dr. Goldman leads. Dr. Goldman speaks frequently about animal issue planning and response for disasters across Connecticut and nationally, and is the founding president of the National Alliance of State Animal & Agricultural Emergency Programs, NASAAEP.
Dr. Goldman is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and recently earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Dr. Arnold Goldman owns and operates a private veterinary practice in Canton, Connecticut, where he also lives. He is married and has two adult stepchildren. He has four Boston terriers and three cats, along with Malcolm, a blue front Amazon parrot.
